Crying in the Chapel
66
So many tears have fallen in the chapels
So many sobs are seen and heard
When finally we give over to the Spirit
We do believe Jesus on His Word
We feel the washing of our spirit
Making us pure and clean as white
There is a lifting of our weight
From the ground we feel so light
We feel our Savior’s arms around us
He has released us from all fears
In gratitude we are so thankful
Along with that may come some tears
These Holy Chapels where many come
To feel closer to their heavenly Lord
To feel as one with our new Protector
All meeting together in one accord
Although we only see Him in the spirit
To us His own we have not one doubt
That He is here for us forever
He saw us in and He will see us out
Some may not understand this joy
Spilling out and down our face as tears
While inside our hearts are singing
With happiness to know no fears
A gift we could not have imagined
Freely given to us in God's love
Through His Son who died for us
Now gone on to our Father above
We believe without a single doubt
He will be back to take us there
We only wait to hear His shout
Calling us up together in the air
When we pray the spirit overwhelms
These earthly bodies; that are so weak
With tears of joy we thank our Lord
While in our spirits He does speak
We raise our arms to Him in praises
And feel His presence very near
The joy from His spirit cleansing
Perhaps anointment is a tear
If we can never in life explain it
All who know Him do know why
In our hearts we know we can never
Thank Him enough... and so we cry
No we are not sad as it may seem
Our joy and love does overflow
We pray one day that you will join us
In His chapel may you too know
There is not one little doubt
in God's eyes we are the apple
Feeling that love of His for us
Leave many crying in the chapel
(Chapels are wonderful places to praise our Lord but you can accept Him right where you sit or stand, you do not need a building or anyone else. Invite Him in and He will be right there. He died for all and every sin, it is the choice of each of us to reject or accept.)

This is beautiful and so very touching.
But I must say...not quite so as our Lord's touch
and beauty and presence and love and grace.
We can never praise enough or thank Him enough. So we try our best to show it by how we live our lives.
Thank you for sharing. I will be sharing this with others.
Jackie ~ This is a beautiful piece. I truly enjoyed your perspective. Thank you so much for sharing and have a blessed day.
Jackie, you poem is beautiful and a perfect instrument of worship to our great and holy Father God. Of course hearing the lovely voice of Elvis singing this song was the perfect accompaniment. Thank you so much.
Really beautiful, Jackie! Voted way up.
Well done Jackie!!!
Many people may not understand why we cry when we worship, as you said, it's hard to explain. It's definitely not sorrow. I think most of all it's the awesomeness of God that brings the tears. Of course there are tears of repentant and penitence too. I love this, it's so sacred!
Very touching and well written. I love it when something moves me like this.
Hi Jackie, perfect title for a very beautiful poem.

You're the best!
A moving and uplifting poem. Blessings and voted up and beautiful.
Power, Moving and Inspirational. I hit many buttons on this gem. I loved the picture of the chapel too :-)
This is a beautiful poem. Speaks very well to the fact that Jesus died for us and while some don't understand those who know Christ as Lord do understand. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful moving song.
Look up Sonny Til and the Orioles on Youtube to see the real thing. Not that Elvis wasn't great. But he did have his limitations and covering other people's hits was not his strong suit.
I love your work.
I only mentioned Sonny because fifty years ago in Boston, I gravitated towards R & B music and got away from singers like Pat Boone and Elvis, when I discovered the great black singers, many of whom (like Etta James) learned to sing in church. When they went into pop music they brought so much more emotion, spirituality, and soul to the music that I couldn't go back to the watered down stuff.
Jackie this is such a beautiful poem and the Elvis song was the perfect fit.
Simply Awesome

Love and peace,
A very beautiful chapel poem you wrote here Jackie. Like Elvis' song too. Once went to a friends chapel and when everyone was quiet and contemplating started I felt this tingling feeling start on the crown of my head and then go down almost below the shoulders. It was a nice feeling but kind of surprising.
Hi, Jackie wonderful poem, I don't go to Church very often but when I do I love the peaceful feel and the awe at what its all about, have a great weekend!
